Waiting for the fireworks

I tried a night shot... Ill try again :-)
Those boats are waiting, like us on the earth, for the fireworks to come.
In Cannes, an international fireworks competition, with Italians, Portuguese, Spanish an French competitors began tonight, An Italian company did a 30 minutes show with that theme " A 14 juillet around the world". IT WAS GREAT.
Our national anthem, and then the Italian one, honouring the competitor, lead the show. The public, 200 000 of us, reacted not completely nicely to that mix... Kind of football game happened recently, let me remember...
After the ending, all that boats, so numerous side by side, totally blocking the sea in front of la Croisette, did an unbelievable foghorn concert.
That competition happens every week till the 24 of august.

Although the shot didn't turn out like you would have liked ... it is still very visually appealing. I like the horizontal light streaks.

I love the shot! The movement of the camera worked to your advantage. It gives it a very dreamy feel.

You had good timing in this one. I don't think is that easy to catch fire crackers in a picture: You caught them at the perfect moment, it creates a innovating effect.

Great photo! And agree about night shots, they are hard for me too. I need to get a tripod.

Thanks all !

As the circumstances were special :
I knew it was about my last chance to picture something that night - i completely missed the fireworks by itself : the battery run out immediately after the shot...
As i ain't got a tripod, i had to find a way to shoot. I was leaned to a wall, so i put the camera on it, and pressed the button, aiming coarsely. At that moment, the camera toggled a bit on its bottom, i remember very well that movement. I thought first that it would give no result at all, and then, when i saw the shot, i was really surprised : that movement gave that effect, reproducing verticallly the boats lights. LUCKY GUY ;-)
